What is the one thing you learned in your time at Sheridan that you will never forget?

There are so many things to mention that I learned from Sheridan in such a short time, however, since I only have to mention one thing that I learned from Sheridan and will never forget in my life, it has to be finishing things in a short period of time. The most important thing a journalist must have is getting things done in a very short period of time and that is exactly what I learned from this program. I wrote so many stories for Sheridan Sun and also did several videos for Sheridan Sun Online and the time limit for stories was very short. Sometime I only had a day to interview people, transcribe them and then write a report on that. In the beginning it felt terrible, but as the time went by, I got used to it. Now that I am graduating, I am used to it. I can get things done in such short time that before I could never even think that I could do so much stuff in such short time. So in short, there are many things to name that I learned from Sheridan in these two years, however, getting things done in a short period of time is something that I will never forget.

SAP TO BRING POSTIVE CHANGES IN MOBILTIY MANAGEMENT

IT hiring to rise by 15 per cent in Canada

IT workers have a reason to smile because they are going to get more job opportunities in the next coming year. According to a report by Robert Half Technology (RHT), Canada is merging into a seller’s market for IT professionals. The staffing firm surveyed hundreds of CIOs across the country, finding that a net 15 per cent planned to add to their IT department’s ranks in the year’s next quarter.

According to the RHT, the most demanded IT professionals are those experienced in technical support and help-desk roles, followed closely by network administrators and application developers. And most importantly, network administration and IT security experts were the specific skill set CIOs were looking for.

“Definitely driving an increased need, if you will, for help-desk professionals, network professionals and security professionals,” Lara Dodo said, regional vice-president at RHT in Canada.

Windows Server 8 is releasing soon with amazing new features

The new Windows Server 8 is expected to release in a couple weeks, and according to the executives of Microsoft Corp., it is the most storage-focused operating system release to date.

Windows Server 8 will replace Windows Server 2008. New OS will have various new features added to it, however, one cool feature that administrators are excited to see is the Live Migration, which lets administrators store copies of virtual machines to be moved from one storage server to another without taking down the VM.

Jim Pinkerton, a partner architect in Microsoft’s File Server Technologies development group said, “The Live Migration upgrade will also remove downtime on Patch Tuesdays by allowing administrators to migrate virtual machines and applications onto another server node, upgrade the original server and then migrate the applications back.” 

The new operating system will also support Hyper-V and SQL Server running over the Samba file sharing protocol Sever Message Block (SMB) v2.2, including remote direct memory access (RDMA) over Ethernet and InfiniBand.

Linux developers and administrators are in demand

There is a good news for Linux developers and system administrators because according to a new survey, a Linux developer and system administrator's wages and job offers should increase. Approximately 2,000 hiring managers and staffing agencies were conducted by The Linux Foundation, an industry group, and Dice, an employment jobs board.

Alice Hill, managing director of Dice.com explained, “Dice has about 11,000 jobs posted on its site that require Linux experience to some extent, an increase of 17 per cent from last year.”
